Time to Act on Coal Ash!

Thursday was the “Coal Ash Day of Action” – and we are answering the call!

Coal Ash Day of Action was the brainchild of the Environmental Integrity Project, Earthjustice, the Sierra Club, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and similar groups.  Their objective was to tell the Obama Administration: “we want and support hazardous waste rules that protect our health and environment from coal ash.”

What these organizations are NOT telling the public is that their favored course of action would have the perverse effect of undoing one of America’s greatest recycling success stories.  In their scare tactic based attacks on coal, these environmental groups willingly overlook the overwhelming environmental, economic and social damage that will occur if a scientifically unjustified “hazardous” label is slapped on a resource that is currently recycled in volumes unmatched by any other industry.

So the action we are taking is to form “Citizens for Recycling First” – an organization dedicated to supporting recycling coal ash as a safe and environmentally preferable alternative to disposal.  Citizens for Recycling First will act vigorously to get the word out about the benefits of recycling and expose the falsehoods contained in the “toxic” claims of anti-coal environmental groups.

You can help in several ways.  On this web site, you can cast your vote by enrolling as an individual Citizen who supports Recycling First.  You can also sign up to receive e-mail copies of our blog entries whenever they are posted, or follow us on Facebook or Twitter if you are so inclined.  You can even participate in our weekly contest that will test your coal ash I.Q. and give you a chance to win some colorful Citizens for Recycling First gear!

The environmental groups are right – now IS the time to take action.  Take the CORRECT action by joining Citizens for Recycling First today.
